SUNOL, Alameda County — The Sunol Visitor Center has published a November schedule of nature activities, including opportunities for families and adults to learn about the preserve.
The official district calendar lists Women in Wilderness: Winter Watercolors for Saturday, November 7, at 1 p.m. and Tracks on the Trail for Sunday, November 8, at 10 a.m. Another activity, Outdoor Discoveries! Turkeys, is listed for November 9 at 10:30 a.m. Program participation can require registration, and a calendar entry does not guarantee that space is still available.
Where to begin
The visitor center is at 1895 Geary Road. Its stated regular hours are Friday 9 a.m.–1 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 8:30 a.m.–4 p.m. The center is closed on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day, regardless of the broader park’s normal gate schedule.
Visitors can ask about hikes, wildlife and plants. The center’s herbarium contains specimens of more than 600 plant species. Families should check the activity description for age recommendations, accessibility and registration instructions.
What to bring
The park district warns that no drinking water is available in the preserve, so bring enough for the planned activity and local weather. A program registration should be confirmed through the district’s official channels.
